Chunchanakatte is located in
Mysore District of
Karnataka. It is around 44 km north-west of
Mysore, the district headquarters.
Chunchanakatte derived its name from a tribal chieftain named Chuncha who planned to construct a dam here. There is a picturesque waterfall at Chunchanakatte. Also, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ram is found on the banks of river Cauvery. A hydro power project is also located here.
Nearest railhead is Krishanrajanaga Railway Station, which is on Mysore-Hassan rail route. Bangalore International Airport is the nearest airport.
