Bheemeshwari Wildlife Sanctuary is situated between the cascades of
Mekedatu, Barachukki and Gaganachukki in
Mandya District. It is a perfect picnic spot with verdant forest, steep valley and beautiful streams. It is the natural home for Mahseer fish and a variety of exciting animals. Fauna includes wild boars, monkeys, jackals, crocodiles, otters, leopards and deers. Variety of birds such as heron, ibis, cormorant, and kingfisher are also seen. A fishing camp called Cauvery Fishing Camp is situated nearby, which offers the exciting option of angling. The best season to visit Bheemeshwari National Park is from December to March.
