Jamalabad, also called Nada, is a charming village situated on
Belthangady-Killur road in
Chikmagalur District, about 6 km north of Belthangady. The village lies at the foot of a high rock which forms a part of the Kudremukha hill range. Formerly known as Narasimhagadh, this area is well-known for an ancient fort built by
Tipu Sultan in 1794, who named it after his mother Jamalbee. Even today the reminiscences of that old fort can be seen on the top of the hill. Jamalabad, known widely as Gadayi Kallu among the locals, also attracts trekkers in large numbers.
At Mangalore situated about 60 km from here, is the nearest airport and railway station.
