Batte Vinayaka Temple




Batte Vinayaka Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Barkur in Udupi District of Karnataka. The presiding deity is Lord Ganesh; the deity faces north which is believed to be the direction of Lord Kubera. The temple is thought to be built prior to Barkur Kingdom.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations attract thousands of devotees from all over Karnataka. During Sankashti Chaturthi day, large number of devotees visit the temple to attend the Ganesh Atharvashirsha Avartan (recitation of Lord Ganesh).

Sri Kalikamba Temple, Sri Bairagi Ganapathi Temple and Rathnagarbha Ganapathi Temple are other important places of worship nearby.
