In the northern region of Dumka District, close to the Jharkhand-Bihar border, lies a major town named Ramgarh. Ramgarh is a taluk headquarters bounded by
Purnia in the west, Poreya in the south, Singarsi in the east and Karbindha in the south.
The headquarters town, Dumka is at a distance of about 40 km south from here. The cities of Giridih and Dhanbad are about 105 km south-west and 120 km south of Ramgarh.
The town is linked with Dumka and Godda by direct road. Gaya Airport and Patna Airport are the airports which serve the town. Jasidih Junction Railway Station is the nearest rail junction.
