Dumka is the administrative headquarters of
Dumka District,
Jharkhand. It is the land of Santhal tribe, hence it is also known as Santhal Pargana. Dumka is 58 km south-east of
Deoghar.
Major points of attraction include Baba Sumeshwar Nath,
Tatloie, Kathikund, Kumdabad, Masanjore Dam, Baba Basukinath Dham and Mallooti.
The nearest airport is at Patna, in Bihar. Jasidih Junction Railway Station (66 km) is the nearest railhead. By road, Dumka is linked with Jasidih,
Pakaur, Godda, Deoghar and Dhanbad.
