National Highway 23 is a 459 km-long stretch that connects Chas in
Jharkhand with
Talcher in
Orissa. Of its total length, 250 km is in Jharkhand and the rest 209 km is in Orissa.
National Highway 23 takes its origin on
National Highway 32 at Chas. It then runs westwards, meets National Highway 33 at Ramgarh, passes past Ranchi and Sisai, and turns south-bound at Gumla to eventually leave Jharkhand at Targa. In Orissa, it runs through Rourkela and Barakot before ending at the junction with National Highway 42 near Talcher.
