Sufiana Music is one of the popular art forms in
Jammu and Kashmir. This art form came to the state from Iran around the 15th century and slowly established itself as the classical music form of the stae. The music was also incorporated a number of Indian Ragas in its body.
Sufiana Music is basically a mix of `bhajans' and `leelas', and `naats' and `manqabats'. Hafiz Nagma in fact, used to be the part of Sufiana Music. It is a dance form in which the dancer is a female who is accompanied with males on various instruments.
There are only a few families in Kashmir who are practicing Sufiana Music in Kashmir. Some of the prominent people in this music are Ustad Ghulam Mohd, Saznawaz and Ustad Abdul Ghani Namathali.
