Sharika Devi Temple




Sharika Devi Temple is located in the Hari Parbat Hill of Srinagar District, Jammu and Kashmir. The hill is in the north-eastern part of Srinagar. The presiding deity of the temple is Sharika, a form of goddess Durga or Shakti.

The deity is made of black stone and has 18 arms, which gives her a fearsome look. Folklore has that the hill appeared at the place where Goddess Parvati killed a demon. The hill is sacred to the Hindus due to the presence of the temple. Hari Parbat Fort is in the vicinity.

June - July are festival months for the temple.

The temple is easily accessible from Tourist Reception Center in Srinagar, which is about 5 km away. By road, Srinagar can be approached via National Highway 1A. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station and the airport is Srinagar Airport.
