Doda is the third largest district in
Jammu and Kashmir. It is spread over an area of 11,691 sq km, and supports a population of about 0.6 million. The district headquarters is
Doda, located 175 km from
Jammu. Pahari is the language spoken by the people.
Doda does not have a uniform climate. The average annual rainfall is 35 inches. Marble Pass and Nunkun on the Suru Border are the most famous mountain peaks. The
Chenab is the main river flowing through the district. Doda is famous for its rich mineral deposits such as lead, mica, gypsum, manganese, marble, graphite and copper.
Doda District has a large forest area, and it boasts snow clad peaks, and virgin trekking routes.

Amar Mahal Museum, Dogra Art Museum, and Bahu Fort.
Diwali is the main festival. A variety of dance forms are performed including Dogri,
Chajja, Bhangra, Phumnian, and Rasila. Dogri folksongs consist of lyrics, ballads, play-songs, dance-songs, and mystic and semi-mystic songs. These are sung on particular occasions. Folksongs present a variety of themes that are as old as the hills.
The main occupation of the people is agriculture. Maize, wheat, paddy and pulses are the important crops cultivated. Rice is the staple food of the people.
