Aru is a hill station situated at 2,408 m above sea level, about 107 km from Srinagar. There are stone and wood houses which make the place resemble an English hamlet. A few houses are built in the typical Gujjar-shepherd style. Tourist bungalow and 'Dhabas' are available for stay. This idyllic place facilitates trekking. You can trek for 24 km to the
Kolahoi glacier at 3,200 meters.
