Moungri




Moungri is a remote village in Udhampur District of Jammu and Kashmir. In the laps of high mountains, the village is nestled in dense forests flourished with pine, kail, fir and oak. It is famous for its small shrines and matchless scenic beauty.

There is a picturesque 40 ft high waterfall near Moungri. It is an adventurous trip. A lush green hayfield, locally known as Sar Dabbar, endowed with Walnut and Eucalyptus, lies on the upper part of the waterfall. Fairs and communal get-together are held at this hayfield.

This village owns several unique shrines, with its own legends and different practices, rituals and ceremonies. Trishul Yatra is conducted annually at the holy shrine of Sri Kalka Mata. Shiv Parvathi Cave Shrine and Kansar Devta's Shrine are the other places worth visiting. Kandroo Hills and Trikuta Hills are ideal places for trekking.

Moungri is about 60 km from the Udhampur. Udhampur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
