Males have long hair on the chin, throat, chest and shanks, while females have smaller fringes. The males have a long neck mane, pantaloons and strong markings. The lower legs have a black and white pattern.
The adult weighs up to 100 kg. The animal can be spotted in Hirapora Wildlife Sanctuary, Jammu and Kashmir, and in the Western Himalayas.
