Suru River is a small tributary of the
Shigar (South) River. This river originates from the snowy wastes on the northern slopes of the main Himalayan ranges in
Ladakh region of
Jammu and Kashmir.
Suru River is joined by several small snow-fed canals while meandering. Suru Valley, formed out of this river, is covered with snow during winter.
Boulders and moraines can be spotted at the bottom of the valley. There is no vegetation in this region. It is mainly due to the climatic condition.
