Nubra Glacier is set on the southern slopes of the
Karakoram Range in
Ladakh region of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is a large glacier, and is surrounded by towering peaks.
This glacier gives rise to the
Nubra River, which flows into the Shyok River. Nubra is fed by the small glaciers in the hanging valleys.
Nubra Glacier is joined by large tributary glaciers, which includes valley glaciers from the north-western slopes of the Sasser La massif and south-eastern slopes of the Karakoram Range. It is devoid of vegetation.
The place can be reached from Leh.
