Baramulla District




Baramulla is the largest district in Jammu and Kashmir. The district headquarters, Baramulla is situated 60 km away from Srinagar. The district is spread over an area of 4,588 sq km, and has a population of approximately 1.16 million. Baramulla shares its boundaries with the districts of Kupwara in the north, Badgam and Poonch in the south, and Srinagar and Leh in the east. Kashmiri is the main language spoken.

Gulmarg, Tangmarg and Khilanmarg are gifted with natural beauty which attracts tourists from all over the world. Manimarg, Vijimarg, Mahalishamarg, Lake Wular, and Manasbal Lake are some of the other tourist places.

Baramulla is the largest producer of horticulture products in the state. World-class apples are cultivated.
