Drogpas are a group of 5 Drogpa villages, about 170 km from
Leh in
Jammu and Kashmir. Among the five, only Dha and Biama are opened for tourists. These are home to a community called Dards, who are considered as the last remnants of the Aryan race traced back to the Indus Valley. These villages have extensive anthropological and ethnographic importance. Harvest festivals are the main celebrations in these villages. During these festivals villagers wear colorful, traditional dresses. The villages of Domkhar Skurbuchan and Achinathang that fall en route to the Drogpas villages are equally important and popular tourist spots.
