Ujh River

Ujh River, one of the major rivers in Kathua District, originates from the Domal Structure of Seojdhar in the middle Himalayan ranges. It traverses a total length of 65 km in the district, while the average width is about 1 km.

Its main tributaries are Naaz and Bhini Nallah. The river water is extensively used for irrigation and drinking purposes. Local populace depends on it for transportation of timber from hills to plains and construction material like sand and stones.

The Ujh barrage built across the river and the Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary at the north of Jasrota are the major points of tourist interest on its banks.

Close to the Ujh barrage, about 24 km from Kathua, is an upcoming picnic spot.
