Bhaderwah is a mountainous torrid town situated about 80 km from
Batote in
Doda District of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is also referred to as Chota Kashmir for its picturesque beauty.
This beautiful land is extended from Qabristan to Gatha and Killa Mohalla to Gupt Ganga. It is believed that the legend of Vasuki is connected with this place. People of Bhaderwah still worship Vasuki with great respect.
The town is dotted with the running cascades, brooks containing crystal clear water and serpentine roads. It has extremely pleasant summer; the temperature ranges from 18 degrees to 32 degrees.
The festive mood starts in April, when the snow starts melting. The beautiful landscape, colorful local fairs and unique mosaic culture attract tourist in large numbers.
Places of tourist interest are Gupt Ganga Temple, Vasukinag Temple, Chinta Valley, Jai, Sewaj and Bal Padri. The area is also famous for an important Hindu pilgrimage - the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Bhaderwah is about 201 km from Jammu and about 252 km from Srinagar.
