Du-Khang




Du-Khang is one of the oldest structures in the monastery of Alchi. This Assembly Hall building dates back to the eleventh century and was constructed by Kal-dan Shes-rab. The panels inside the carved gateway houses small Bodhisattvas and guardian figures. A statue of Vairocana is found inside the temple. Four main Buddha manifestations are found on the walls of Alchi’s temple. They are presented in their associated colors such as Akshobya (Unshakeable, blue), Ratnasambhava (Jewel Born, yellow), Amitabha (Boundless Radiance, red) and Amoghasiddhi (Unfailing Success, green). The other walls are adorned with mandalas.
