Thanedar, at a height of 7,250 ft, is famed as the fruit bowl of
Himachal Pradesh. It is a small village located amidst magnificent apple orchards in
Shimla District. Tani-Jubbar Lake, Hattu Peak, St Mary’s Church (built in 1872), and a stone temple named Parmjyotir built in the Pahari style are the prime specialties.
Thanedar’s delicious apples are used in preparing jam, pickles, and wines.
