Indian Muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak) is a solitary animal, which is about 23 to 30 inches in height and weighs 40 to 60 pounds. Its color varies from deep brown to yellow or grayish brown with creamy or whitish markings.
The body is covered with short, soft hairs. The ears are lightly hairy. The upper canine teeth of the males are elongated into tusks, which curve outward from the lips. Females have tiny bony knobs and tufts of hair while antlers occur in the males. The animal feeds on leaves, shoots, tender grasses and fallen fruit.
It can be seen in the Kaziranga National Park, Assam.
