Mashobra




Mashobra is 12 km from Naldehra near Shimla. Situated at a height of 2600 m, Mashobra is a retreat with apple orchards, pine and oak woods. It has numerous glades, streams and glens and is ideal for camping, picnics, treks and river rafting.

The thickly wooded slopes of Mashobra are part of the Shimla Reserve Forest sanctuary and catchments area. This place is the habitat for jackals, kakkar (barking deer) and leopard, and variety of bird species such as the Himalayan eagle, pheasants, chikor and partridges.

Mashobra is encircled by the peaks of the Western Himalayas. It is also the site of Sipi Fair, held in the month of May. A temple of Goddess Durga is also worth visiting. A trek to Shali Peak - the highest in the area, can be made from Mashobra. Craignano, a stylish rest house, is 3 km from Mashobra.
