Sarahan

Popularly known as the 'Valley of Flowers', Sarahan, on the Old Hindustan-Tibet Road, is a small village perched at an altitude of 2000 m, in the Satluj Valley, in Shimla District, Himachal Pradesh.

It was the erstwhile summer capital of Rampur Bushahr, 44 km away. Sarahan, with its rolling fields, apple orchards and the magnificent snow-clad peaks, which includes the Srikhand Range, is indeed a traveler’s paradise.

Bijata Devi Temple and Raja Bushahr Palace coupled with a temple complex form the major landmarks. A pheasant-breeding center and stadium are the other prime sites nearby.

March to June and September to October are the best time to visit.

There is a hotel run by HPTDC for accommodation. The nearest airport is at Shimla (around 184 km), from where bus and taxi services are available. Kalka Railway Station serves Sarahan.
