Rampur

Rampur, the erstwhile capital of the princely state of Bhushur, is a beautiful town situated on the banks of the Sutlej River, on the India-Tibet Road, in Himachal Pradesh. It is 132 km north-east of Shimla, at an altitude of 924 m.

Places of tourist interest include the gabled Padam Palace, Dumgir Buddhist Temple, Raghunath Temple and Narsingh Temple. The Lavi Mela, celebrated in late October or early November, is a major attraction and is attended by a large number of people.

Rama Guest House near the bus stand offers budget accommodation. Those looking for a little more comfort can opt for Hotel Bhagavati at the bottom of the bazaar. Bushehar Regency, run by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Cooperation (HPTDC), has higher end lodgings.

The nearest railhead and airport are at Shimla. National Highway 22 passes through Rampur and buses ply from Rampur to Rekong Peo, Kalpa, Shimla and Nirmand.
