Kullu valley, also called the valley of Gods, is nestled between the Dhauladhar and
Pir Panjal ranges. The valley is approximately 225 km from the capital town of
Shimla and runs north to south of the
river Beas. It is about 80 km long and extends from the gorge at
Aut to the
Rohtang Pass. The Kullu valley is famous for hand-made shawls and kullu caps which are made of a woollen cloth with variety of colourful bands of Shaneel around it. It is an ideal place for rafting, paragliding, skiing and rock climbing.
Kullu Manali Airport, at Bhuntar, is 10 km from city center. Nearest railhead is at Joginder Nagar (95 km west).
