Chowari Pass, also known as Chowari Jot, is located midway between
Chamba and Chowari. It is 8,000 ft above the sea level.
On one side of the road is Khajjiar and on the other side is Kainthli Dhar, which is noted for its scenic beauty comprising deodar and kail trees. The place has heavy snow fall during winters and the summers are pleasant.
Chowari is remarkable during April-May when the place is packed with beautiful rhododendron. Gujjars and
Gaddis use this route while migrating to and from the plains.
The pass is an ideal base for trekking. It is the shortest route for those traveling from Pathankot to Chamba, 18 km away.
