Billing is a little meadow situated in
Kangra District of
Himachal Pradesh. It is considered to be one of the excellent gliding sites in the world. This meadow lies directly above Bir and Chaugan villages, at an altitude of 2,400 m on the
Dhauladhar Ranges.
Billing is located roughly midway between Dharamsala and Mandi, and to the south-west of Manali and Kulu valley. It is famous world over for having the distinction of organizing the very first ‘Paragliding Competition’ according to the rules of Federation Aeronautique International.
The annual 'Himalayan Hang Gliding Rally' is conducted here in the month of May. Best time for gliding is March to May before the monsoon and September to November.
Billing is 14 km from Bir village, which serves as a landing ground and a base for hang and para gliders. The nearest airport is at Gaggal, 7 km from Kangra town and 40 km from Palampur. Pathankot Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
