Radhasthami




Radhasthami is a festival celebrated on the Shukla Paksha Ashtami in the Tamil month of Aavani or the eighth day of the bright half of the North Indian Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapada (August-September). This festival is the observance of the birth of Shri Radha who is closely associated with the divine mystery of Krishna. On this day the deities of Radha and Krishna are worshipped and special offerings and pujas are made for the deities. In this festival, thousands of devotees gather at Barsana, 30 km from Mathura and offer their prayers.
