Bata River, a tributary of the
Yamuna River, originates from the boulders below the Nahan ridge in the south-west corner of
Himachal Pradesh.
Mainly fed by the rain water it goes down as an underground river before finally coming up on the surface as springs. Large and wide terraces have been formed by it.
The small tributaries which join the Bata River in the
Paonta valley are Khara-Ka-Khala, which flows in the southern direction from the Nahan ridge, and Kanser-Khala originating from the Southern slopes of the Nahan.
