Kasauli is a quaint town perched at an altitude of 1,927 m in
Solan District,
Himachal Pradesh. Kasauli's cobbled paths, quaint shops, gabled houses with charming facades and little orchard gardens still exude a 19th century colonial ambience. A stroll along the narrow roads that twirls around the hillsides offers some of the rare glimpses of nature. It is 77 km south-west of
Shimla.
Kasauli, found during the hey-days of the British, can be reached by a branch road from the Kalka-Shimla road. Upper and Lower Mall are the two main roads which run along the length of Kasauli, but the traffic on these roads are restricted, maintaining the serenity of the place. The town is also home to the Central Research Institute and Pastur Institute for Rabies, the oldest of its kind in India.
Places of tourist interest include the Monkey Point, Subathu,
Dharampur (15 km), Dagshai (19 km) and Sanawar (6 km), which is home to a 100-year-old Lawrence School.

Nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport at Chandigarh. Kalka Railway Station in Haryana is the closest railway station. Kasauli is linked with Solan (44 km), Kalka, Chandigarh and Delhi by regular bus services.
