Guru Ki Kashi



Talwandi Sabo, popularly known as Guru Ki Kashi, is one of the important pilgrimage centers in Punjab. This is the place where the fifth Takht of the Sikhs is situated, the other four Takhts being Akal Takht at Amritsar, Takht Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur, Takht Hazur Sahib at Nanded in Maharashtra and Takht Harmandir Sahib at Patna in Bihar. Located about 28 km southeast of Bathinda, this place attracts thousands of Sikh pilgrims every year.

It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, had stayed here after the historic war against Mughal atrocities. A Gurdwara, Dam Dama Sahib, is also erected in memory of the Guru. According to myth, the ancestors of the Pulkian rulers called Chaudhari Tiloka and Rama received Amni from Guru Gobind Singh here. Devotees can view the sacred personal belongings of Guru Gobind Singh which are showcased at Takht Damdama Sahib. Gurdwara Manji Sahib Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, Gurdwara Manji Sahib Padshahi Nauvin and Dasvin, Gurdwara Likhansar Sahib, Gurdwara Jandsar Sahib,Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib, Gurdwara Sri Nanaksar, Gurdwara Niwas Asthan Padshahi Dasvin, Gurdwara Mata Sundari and Sahib Devan, are the other gurdwaras at the takht.

There are two Gurdwaras in memory of the ninth Guru Sri Tegh Bahadur, known by the names Wada Darbar Sahib and Gurusar.
