Sri Krishna Museum, set up by the Kurukshetra Development Board, is based in
Kurukshetra of
Haryana. Dedicated to
Lord Krishna, Sri Krishna Museum is the only center of its kind in the country. The exhibits represent the diverse phases of Lord Krishna's life.
On display are Patta Chitra, Kangra, Madhubani and Pichhvais paintings and bronze collections dating back to Pallava, Chola and Nayaka periods. Unique among the collections is the ivory image of Lord Krishna in the form of Venugopal. Other varied exhibits include the images of Krishna as a mischievous child, Krishna on the lotus leaf as the rain falls and his role as a charioteer in the battle of Mahabharat.
The museum is open on all days except Mondays and gazetted holidays. Visiting hours is between 10:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs.
