The district of Panipat of
Haryana is situated on the banks of the
Yamuna. It has an area of 1,268 sq km.
Panipat town is the district headquarters. Panipat is of historical importance as three battles, which marked a new era in Indian history were fought here.
Panipat is an industrial town famous for its handloom products. Darri, carpet mat, table cover, bed sheet, bed cover, and curtain are of international fame and are exported. The important tourist spots are the tomb of Ibrahim Lodhi, Panipat Museum, Kabuli Bagh, Devi Temple, and
Dargah of Bu-Ali-Shah-Qalandar.
