Bhiwani

Bhiwani, the administrative headquarters of Bhiwani District in Haryana, is situated on the banks of a tributary of the Ganges. From a free market site in the early 19th century under the British, the city had transformed into one of the leading industrial centers in the state. Cotton milling, ginning, and pressing and light manufacturing form the staple of the town. Bhiwani is 120 km west of Delhi.

Bhiwani takes its name after Goddess Gauri Bhawani, wife of Lord Shiva. The city is also called 'Little Kashi', due to the 300 odd temples that dot the cityscape.

Places of tourist interest include Prithviraj ki Kutchery, Loharu Fort, the shrines of Khera Baba and Lohar Pir, the tombs of Todar Singh and Baba Shami Dayal and the mosque and tomb of Raja Khetri.

Nearest airport is at New Delhi. Bhiwani Railway Station is on the Rewari- Hissar line.
