Karnal is an important city, which lies along the west bank of the
Yamuna River, in
Haryana. It is believed that the name, Karnal, was derived from the name Karna, a warrior in the ancient Indian epic,
Mahabharata. District headquarters of
Karnal District, Karnal is 135 km north of
New Delhi.
