Sohna

Sohna is situated on the Gurgaon-Alwar road, 24 km south of Gurgaon and 56 km south-west of Delhi. It is said that the town got its name from the gold dust collected from the streams that flowed around the area. In early times, this place was home of rishis (saints) and the main kund (tank) here was known as Shiv Kund. The Damdama Lake is located nearby.

This town is well known for its hot springs where the temperature ranges from 46°c to 51°c. The spring oozes from the base of a rock, which is covered by a dome. This dome is believed to have been built in the 14th century. These sulphur springs, being famed for its medicinal properties, were visited by foreign tourists during the British period. Today this site has become one of the important tourist and pilgrim center in Sohna.
