Ranjit Vilas Palace is located near
Wankaner town, at
Rajkot District in
Gujarat. The palace was designed and built by the local ruler Amarsinhji. The palace took seven years to complete and was named after Amarsinhji’s friend, Jam Ranjitsinjhi of Jamnagar kingdom.
Ranjit Vilas Palace covers 255 acres. The State guesthouse, Chandra Bhavan, is located inside the palace grounds. The palace is a combination of several architectural styles. The palace features two beautifully designed pavilions with gothic arches at the front. The palace boasts a seven-storeyed central clock tower topped by a
Mughal dome and two five-storey high bastions. The facade boasts of many European artifacts and architectural features. The garage of the Ranjit Vilas Palace features many famous vintage cars.
