Bhavnagar, located in Gujarat, is a sprawling industrial city founded in the 18th century by Bhav Singhji. Founded as a port in 1743, the city is still a prominent trading post for cotton products. Bhavnagar is about 203 km south-west of Ahmedabad.

Bhavnagar’s commercial importance is enhanced by its proximity with the Gulf of Cambay and the Arabian Sea. The city offers vibrant shades of traditional Gujarati culture to the traveler.

Major points of attraction include Gandhi Smriti Library, Gopnath, Takhteshwar Temple, Darbargadh, Victoria Park and Gaurishankar Lake. Bhavnagar is also a suitable stopover for the tourists who are venturing to the Jain temples at Palitana on the Shatrunjaya Hills, Sirohi and the Velavadar National Park, the home of the famous Indian Black Buck.

Bhavnagar Airport is 9 km from city center. The nearest international airport is at Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar Railway Station is a major railhead of the Western Railways in Gujarat. National Highway 8E passes through Bhavnagar. By Road, Bhavnagar is linked with Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surendranagar and Anand.
