Gulf of Kutch




Gulf of Kutch is located along the southern shore of Gujarat at a latitude and longitude of 22º15`- 23º40`N and 68º20`- 70º40`E respectively. It separates Saurashtra Peninsula from the Rann of Kutch and lies in the Jamnagar District. Tidal range of 4-7m which generates fast currents of up to 2.5 m per second is a unique feature. Mangrove forests and algal beds cover the area. The Gulf of Kutch is famous for coral reefs surrounding the 32 islands. The area is declared as marine sanctuary and marine national park, with characteristic marine species. Boating facilities are provided for tourists.

Willingdon Crescent, Lakhota Fort and Kotha Bastion, Bala Hanuman Temple, and Jain temples are nearby attractions. The area is well connected by rail and road to all major places of India. Flights from Mumbai are available daily to Jamnagar airport.
