Anand, popularly known as the Milk Capital of India, is situated 35 km west of
Vadodara, in
Gujarat. It is home to the Amul dairy, Asia's largest milk cooperative society, which boasts more than a million tone of milk production every day. About 70% of the milk produced here is delivered to various neighboring cities and nearby states.
Major tourist attractions in and around the city include Dakor, Bharuch, the historic town of Champaner, Dhumkal Sanctuary and the Pavagadh Fort.
Nearest airports are at Vadodara and Ahmedabad (65 km). Anand Junction Railway Station, served by the Western Railways, connects the city with Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram. Anand Bus Station is located close to the railway station.
