The tomb of Shaikh Ahmed Khattu is situated at
Sarkhej, about 10 km south-west of
Ahmedabad, in
Gujarat. It lies to the south-west of the artificial lake Sarkhej Tank, in
Sarkhej Complex. The tomb of Shaikh Ahmed Khattu is considered as the largest mausoleum in Gujarat.
The tomb of the venerated saint Shaikh Ahmed Khattu, also known as Ganj Bakhas, was built in 1446 by Mohammed Shah, the successor of Ahmed Shah. The mausoleum is roofed by a large central dome supported by a series of pillars. Upper walls and outer walls of the mausoleum are adorned with fine tracery works.
The annual Sarkhej Fair, which falls in July/August, attracts thousands of devotees from far and near.
