Perched at an altitude of 187 ft above sea level, Sabarmati is a famous town in the
Ahmedabad District of
Gujarat. It lies to the north-west of
Vadodara (105 km) and is about 8 km from
Ahmedabad.
Sabarmati is encircled by Satej in the west, Koba in the north, Vehelal in the east and Wanch in the south. Sabarmati Ashram is the main attraction. The legendary Dandi march was initiated from here. The place also bears the distinction of being the home to many parleys between the leaders of India's independence struggle.
Sabarmati Junction Railway Station, on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana railway line, serves this place. Buses ply in regular intervals of time from Ahmedabad Bus Station to Sabarmati.
