Navsari District of
Gujarat is spread over an area of 2,209 sq km. It has 5
taluks and 370 villages. Population is about 1 million. About 58% people are literates. The district was an important
Parsi settlement from 1142 AD.
The headquarters town Navsari is famous for the cutting and polishing of diamonds. Dandi, a historic town renowned for the 'Dandi March Salt Satyagraha' launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930, is located on the eastern side of the district.
