Mandvi Port is an ancient port and ship building center situated at Mandvi, about 52 km from
Bhuj, in
Kutch District of
Gujarat. It is situated on the right bank of
Rukmavati River in
Gulf of Kutch, on the west coast of India. Mandvi Port was an important sea trade post built more than four centuries ago by the Rulers of Kachchh.
The port is well known for country craft construction business from ancient time. Traffic is moved by country craft and lighterage vessels at this port. There is ample opportunity to develop repair facilities by constructing slipway. Clay, bauxite, cotton seeds, salt and oil cakes are exported from here. Fertilizers, building materials and dates are the major products imported.
Bhuj Airport serves Mandvi. New Bhuj Railway Station is the nearest railhead. By road, Mandvi is well connected to Gandhidham, Bhuj and Ahmedabad.
