Kera is a historic town situated in
Kutch District of
Gujarat. It is about 18 km south of
Bhuj, the district headquarters. The town was once the capital of the famous ruler Lakho Fulani. Kera was destroyed during the earthquake of 1819.
Major point of attraction is the 10th century shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The ancient Kapilkot Fort, built by Lakho Fulani, is another point of attraction. The annual Urs celebrations, held at the shrine of Gulam Ali Shah, attract thousands of devotees from far and near.
By road, Kera is well connected with Bhuj, Patri, Kodra and Motara. New Bhuj Railway Station, served by the Western Railways, is the nearest railhead.
