Barda Wildlife Sanctuary




Located in Porbandar and Jamnagar districts of Gujarat, Barda Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 190 sq km. It is about 15 km from Porbandar.

The sanctuary area is a green oasis, surrounded by agriculture fields, wastelands and forest. The two main rivers in the sanctuary are Bileshvary and Joghri. Khambala and Fodara are the important dams.

Ratel, leopard and wolf are some of the endangered mammals found here. It is also inhabited by wild boar, crocodile, chameleon, panther, spotted deer, sambar deer, neelgai and monkeys. Spotted Eagle and Crested Hawk-Eagle found here are rare and endangered.

November to March is the best season to visit. Kileshwar, a temple and camping site, is in the heart of the sanctuary.

Nearest airport and railway station are at Porbandar. Nearest bus station is at Ranavav (8 km).
