The Iranshah Atash Behram at Udvada near
Surat has the distinction of having the oldest sacred fire of
Parsis in India. Consecrated in 1742, this holy fire was brought by Iranian refugees to Udvada, shortly after their arrival at
Sanjan in South Gujarat. This is the most important pilgrimage site for the Parsi sect of India. It also houses the Dasturji Koyaji Mirza Hall and the WZO Museum.
Udvada is a quaint coastal village 206 km north of Mumbai. It is situated between the Union Territory of Daman and the district town of Valsad. The nearest railhead Udvada is on the
Virar-Surat section. The
National Highway 8 from Mumbai to Vapi Juntion via Manor leads to Udvada.
