Dholka is a medium-sized town situated about 40 km south-west of
Ahmedabad, in
Ahmedabad District of
Gujarat. In the middle ages, the town was the seat of the Vaghela family, who were feudatories of the Solanki rulers of Gujarat.
Major point of attraction is the Vageshwari Temple, dedicated to Vageshwari Mataji. The place is also famous for the numerous Islamic monuments found here. Most of the monuments are built in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.
Dholka Railway Station, on the Ahmedabad-Dhandhuka railway line, is a major railhead in Gujarat. By road, Dholka is well linked with Ahmedabad, Lothal, Bagodra, Bavla, Kheda, Pipli and Limbdi.
