Port Pipavav is located in the Saurashtra region of
Gujarat, 135 km south-west of
Bhavnagar. The port has three dry cargo berths and one LPG / liquid cargo berth. The three cargo berths have a length of about 725 m, which are equipped with instruments capable of handling multipurpose cargo. The LPG / liquid cargo berth can handle ships up to 45,000 DWT. When the port is fully operational, the container terminal can handle 1.3 million TEUs annually and six million tonnes of other non-containerized cargo per annum.
Easy and safe navigation of ships is guaranteed by the favourable oceanographic conditions.
The port has warehouses, liquid cargo storage facilities, open stackyards and buildings to accommodate the offices of customs, stevedores agents and shipping lines, two rail mounted electric level luffing (ELL) cranes, 3 quay gantry cranes, and 5 reach stackers. It provides pilotage and towage services. Port Pipavav is well connected to major cities by road, rail and air.
Port Pipavav is connected via Surendranagar by the broad gauge rail network of the Indian Railways. Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited has developed a four lane expressway which connects the port to the
National Highway 8E.
